RedTail Support

Installation:

RedTail can run in either a network environment or as a stand alone application. Either method requires the RedTailSQL server and RedTail workstation components.

RedTailSQL server can reside on a Windows server, a workstation that is part of a Windows workgroup network, or on a standalone Windows computer. You can visit our RedTail Hardware page for complete hardware specifications.

RedTailSQL server needs only to be installed on the one computer that will be storing the company data. The workstation component must be installed on all stations that will be running RedTail. You can install the workstation component on the server as well. However, it is not recommended for use on high volume network environments with heavy demands on server resources.

Verifying Installation of the RedTail Bundled Bar Code Fonts:

Bar code fonts are not required for bar code scanning. However, they are required for printing your own bar code labels and for generating bar codes on certain 3″ receipts. If the bar code fonts are not installed in Windows printed bar codes will simply appear as a normal Windows fonts.

During RedTail workstation installation, the RedTail bundled bar code fonts should automatically install to the Windows fonts folders. Check the Fonts folder for the following fonts:

  • Code39AzeleaNarrow1
  • Code39AzeleaNarrow2
  • Code39AzeleaNarrow3
  • Code39AzeleaRegular1
  • Code39AzeleaRegular2
  • Code39AzeleaRegular3
  • Code39AzeleaWide1
  • Code39AzeleaWide2
  • Code39AzeleaWide3
  • BARCODE39

If the fonts are not in the folder, you can copy them from the RedTail POS/Fonts folder likely installed under Program Files or Program Files (x86) and paste them into C:\Windows\Fonts.
